Primadonahue One Person Band
When I was producing big ambitious shows with Jerungdu Theater, there were occasions when over thirty artists were contributing to a single project. Although this was often fun and rewarding I still felt more like an administrator than a musician. I eventually sensed the desire to do less grant writing, phone calling, press releases, etc. and more guitar playing.

A few years ago I started working the opposite schedule from the rest of the world and could not attend music rehearsals. The circumstances presented the inspiration to make a one person band; thus the creation of Primadonahue.

I started out using rather primitive techniques such as digital delays as rhythmic elements and pre-recorded backing tracks. My act has since evolved to include a wider variety of sonic techniques.

Now I employ a combination of guitar playing, looping, midi sequencing, phrase sampling, strap on drum triggers, electric kazoo, theremin, vocals and a wide range of sound filtering devices. (Tech heads see this link to the Primadonahue Technology Matrix.) The best thing about performing with machines is that they never nix my ideas!

I am an official celebrity endorser of Donahue Guitar Arts hand made custom art/concept guitars. Check out my guitar art site at www.donahueguitar.com

I have performed in both a concert format or as incidental music according to the circumstance. As well as performing solo I have also been a part of some interesting collaborations.

Check out the Repulsar page to find out more about my work with Chris “Newt-Sparky-Skink” Huff.

I have also worked with Bedlam Theatre performing in several of their Ten Minute Play Festivals and many of their Romps. In addition, I was a one man pit orchestra in Mike Harris’ production of “Big Ole Bedlam’s Theatre of the Revolutionary Arts” in February of 2006. (Read the reviews.) I also performed at the Southern Theater in April of 2006 in Bedlam's "Casablanca" as part of a Fringe Festival benefit.

In 2004-2006 I was part of the “Strange Attractors” Experimental Music Series at Metro State University. Event Curator David Means (who Thurston Moore in a review once referred to as "an old guy who used to play with John Cage") and I performed a continuing original music/multimedia performance series called "$niper$: What Goes Around Comes Around”. This commentary on US foreign policy is an idea we plan to continue to further develop.

I am always experimenting with new ways of producing sound without the aid of other musicians. Check out the Primadonahue MP3’s to hear what it sounds like.
